I love myself a good cocktail… and I think most women do. This is the yummy, complicated glass beverage I am referring to, not the dress. (Which FYI I love too, but that’s another post).

If you follow me (and if you don’t- what are you waiting for?) you would  already know that I’m launching my own line of fabulous leather bags & leather jackets super soon. I’m also curating a small trunk show with a few other designers whose work I love! It’s going to be AH-MAZING! So do come by 🙂

Anyway, moving on… Now that we have established some facts about the launch, etc, I have to tell you that I will be serving some delish cocktails at the show. I mean- girls just wanna have fun, right? Then, cocktails actually do multiply the fun we have with fashion (you know it’s true).

So all of this pre-show excitement got me thinking.. Which cocktail is it I identify most with? What you’ll read below are some of my favorite cocktails that I think gel with a certain look. Do read and figure out which cocktail screams YOU.

Bellini: If not Prosecco, then definitely Champagne ! The peaches, the sparkling…yumm! So how can one tell they are a Bellini? Simple: It’s classy with a hint of quirk. And, that’s what mostly floats my boat. Wear an elegant black dress and then give it a twist! Like a bold lip, a funky accessory.. And you’re set!

Bloody Mary: I’d like to describe this one as  “hot mess”! So, if you love a bloody mary, you’d better be pulling off the look. What’s that, you wonder? Think- skinny jeans, camisole, a jacket thrown over and messy, bedhead hair. Some red lip- and you’re just the right kind of Bloody Mary.

Dirty Martini (with Gin, please): Dang! Yes, that’s the flavor bomb of the martini and the one who looks every bit a martini; bold & beautiful ! Think- Slip Dress, a Judith Leiber, Heels (stilettos or kitten only) and shoulder-grazing danglers. Lips: understated but glossy! Ahem… stop drooling!

kendall_jenner_cocktail_oddcat

Cosmopolitan: Simply delish. Yes, even to look at. Everytime, we mention a Cosmo, we instantly picture Sex and The City. Now, if you are “cosmo”, your style is your own. You practically wear anything and make it look “cosmo”. But just for reference sake, here is what you wear: Shimmer pants, simple tee, kitten heels, bold effing jewelry and bold bold eyes! Maybe, you can wear a hat or a feather or whatever is befitting your mood at the time.

Daiquiri: Just because it’s always on the menu, doesn’t (by any means) mean it’s standard. It can grow on you, rather slowly. So, if you’re working a “Daiquiri” look, visualise: Cargo pants, chunky shoes (heels or sneakers- your pick), tank top with multiple bracelets and maybe a cropped denim jacket thrown over!

So my fellow odd-cats, what’s the cocktail + fashion spiel from you? Write in if you have some more looks you want to share, or even some pictures. Would love to know!

Until next time (i.e. my show)

Disclaimer: This post is honest (like all my posts) and if you don’t agree, find it rude or judgemental in anyway, that’s fine. That’s your opinion and you’re entitled to it as am I.

We have all heard of TMI but I am now officially using this abbreviation called TMB – Too Much Boob! I’m not a conservative person and am rather progressive in my thinking. In fact, I really do believe you should wear whatever the heck you want to. Having said that, I’m struggling to appreciate the style sense of many stylists/ fashionistas/ bloggers/ (whatever the new profession in the online fashion space is!). And, I mean no offence. Truly. In fact, I’m all about uplifting and empowering, etc… but that doesn’t mean I can’t have an opinion or sense of humor right?

So here’s my “Weekly Laugh” where I’m laughing my guts out with my girls lookin’ at ‘em boobs.

Every time I go out, I see so many people who look like cookie cutter images of each other. So what makes them look alike you wonder? Oh no, they are not zombies from some sci-fi show. They are just some bodies in some kind of a “boob- show”. There, I said it. It’s harsh but the truth always is. Btw, I have done a private survey to see if other people agree- and they do. So who are these bodies (umm.. ya that’s what I’m calling it finally. Coz if I use the “W” word, there’s a storm coming my way that will thrash in the name of “feminism.”

These bodies are all wearing bralettes (or just bras), crop tops (that are no more than bras) paired with high-waisted jeans, skirts ,shorts, etc (The shorter the better). What’s next? They all have the same hair colour- literally the same brown/golden/ burgundy-ish highlights. And then the same red lips. And to top it off, they all wear very similar looking shoes- cheap stilettos that scream, ‘Look at me, I’m right here!’ But really- none of it is wrong in any way… I just wonder and I really do wonder- since when did fashion become a victim itself. You know what I mean? Where is that- I am me… I will wear my mood today… I will be classy… I will own it (and own it doesn’t always mean- having your boobs all hanging out). This might sound like a rant to you (because it is. Lol!) But do me a favor and really look through all the instagram fashion bloggers’ pages today… doesn’t matter where from. You’ll see what I’m saying.

Of course, there are some pages that I truly love and some of them are doing a fab job like @masoonminawala, @diipakhosla to name a few. But then there are ones, which I follow simply as an OH: Occupational Hazard!

By the way, one day I said to myself- I’m going to wear what they are wearing just to kind of “step in their shoes” for a moment. And…. I failed! Miserably. Maybe because, TMB is not my thing and I really was disgusted by the idea of having my boobs talk to people rather than my fabulous personality. Phew! What a waste of an exercise. Not entirely, though! I got a post out of it. And here’s what I was wearing when I wrote this 😉

Oh yes, it’s time to step up your game, style game! Summer is upon us and amp-ing up without breaking into a sweat is no mean feat. So, here’s your accessory for the season that will give you that unique edge. Remember the rule: own it like you mean it. Styling is a lot about attitude so work that “queen bee” swag. And yes, headpieces work better with western wear! See for yourself.

LOOK 1
The first look I’m wearing a headpiece with a western outfit. It’s more like a day or sundowner kind of look. If this headpiece is a bit much for you, get a daintier one. But for me, bigger the better.

LOOK 2
The second look is edgier because we have given Mohawk a new avatar. It could have been worn both horizontally and vertically. I prefer the Mohawk style because it’s “out there” and edgy.

LOOK 3
The third look is “too glam to give a damn”! Almost like crowning glory and I reckon- it takes a lot to carry it off. The first time I wore it, I got many stares (not necessarily in a good way) but you know what- I was “too glam to give a damn” 😉

LOOK 4
Turbans are now finding its ground in the fashion scene. It’s the easiest way to turn around blah into blow-up! I work ‘em turbans quite a bit now and think these are kind of foolproof.

LOOK 5
This one is simple yet stylish. A casual dress, sneakers & turban. When street style is achievable and not redundant, turban to the rescue!

Fringes are fun! Simply, because it creates a Happy Mood & great dance moves. And there are multiple ways you can wear them. Long, short, colourful or not. It can be a part of your western look, traditional look or fusion look. It’s versatile and looks good on EVERYONE. So shall we get them swinging?

Look 1: Colorful “fringe” sweatshirt
I wore it with high-waist pants in black because I wanted the colors of the fringes to pop. A top-knot and kitten heels completed the look. Easy breezy!

Look 2: Fringe Pants

The pants have fringes on its sides so I paired it with a slightly shimmery top and knotted it. Gold oxfords (matching my top) and a top-knot (again) made for a super comfy #ootn. Dancing all night long with no sore feet (lower the heel, less tired you feel).

Look 3: Fringe Jacket

Wearing a sleeveless gold-fringed jacket. This one is fringe heavy so I’m glad this was sleeves-free! Paired them with balloon pants and again tiny heels. Kept hair in a sleek low ponytail and let the jacket shine! Works as a western look as well as fusion.

Some pro tips for Fun Fringing:

  1. Try and keep fringes limited to one item of the whole look. It could be on your clothing, or your bag, or any one accessory.
  2. Let fringes be the highlight of your look. If you really want to work those fringes, it’s best to avoid anything over-powering in your outfit.
  3. Sleek hairdos are safe. When sporting fringes, it helps keeping your hair simple- a top-knot or sleek ponytail!

Have fun with fringes!

Okay then, enjoy your fringes and bust some killer dance moves. Have a fun night y’all!
